When I started working with Geoff as my coach, I was at a career crossroads. I had been in a fulfilling and demanding leadership role for many years, but I had a strong sense that I wanted something different. I wanted to explore how I could leverage my experience to grow my career through my current role or a new one. I also wanted to raise my profile and demonstrate that I was ready for a new challenge.
Initially, Geoff asked me questions that prompted self-discovery and helped me connect to my deeper motivations. That made it easier for me to decide which opportunities to pursue. Once I had chosen a role to pursue, Geoff helped me think through how I would manage the various stakeholders and ultimately demonstrate my value. I was hired for a role that enabled me to highlight my subject matter expertise while growing through exposure to new business challenges.

Geoff helped me clarifying my coaching aims as I determined the key behavioural shifts I wanted to adopt to drive my desired outcomes. Geoff also helped me to distil my areas of focus into a manageable list where my development could be measured and tracked. Geoff asked a range of questions that helped me think deeply about the impact of my approach on different interpersonal settings, and helped me identify behaviours that could be refined and developed for better outcomes.
The discussions in our sessions would sometimes reflect on the behavioural changes I had implemented and what I had learnt through the process, and sometimes would prepare me for upcoming situations such as large speaking events or complex C-level interactions, by discussing ways I might evolve my approach for better outcomes. Geoff’s clear communication, thoughtful analysis and patient prompting led me to think about my personal impact on people in new ways.
